$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install hdfview 

hdfview is installed in your system.

Make ensure the hdfview package were installed using the commands given below,

$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep hdfview *

You will get with hdfview package name, version, architecture and description in a table

hdfview package basic information:
